Using a CAB 8n in standalone mode

The CAB 8n can be configured so that when the project has been deployed, the CAB 8n does not require a connection to a NION, nControl or nTouch 180 in order to send and receive audio data on the CobraNet network. Even when the CAB 8n is power cycled, it still continues to send and receive audio.

Note: You will need a NION, nControl or nTouch 180 initially, in order to deploy the project and send the configuration to the CAB, but once this is done they will no longer be required.

To use a CAB 8n in standalone mode

  1. Open the device tree and drag a NioNode, nControl node or nTouch 180 node over to the design page.
  2. Drag a CAB 8n over to the design page.

When you add the CAB 8n, select the Advanced Subchannel Mapping option on the Device Properties / Advanced properties dialog box.

  3. Deploy or emulate the project.
  4. Open the CAB 8n block.
  5. On the CAB 8n tab, specify the settings you want the CAB 8n to use when it is running in standalone mode.

Tip: These will need to include the Id (hardware id) and TX or RX bundle number and subchannel settings.

  6. Click Persistent configuration.
  7. Click Standalone mode.
