Connecting NWare to the nTouch 60 unit

In order for the NWare nTouch 60 device to communicate with the physical nTouch 60 unit, you must specify the IP address of the physical device on the control surface of the NWare device. You will then be able to see controls you have added to the pages of the NWare device on the screen of the nTouch 60 unit, and you will be able to interact with them using the touch screen and control knob.

To connect NWare to the nTouch 60 unit

  1. Make sure the project contains an nControl unit or nTouch 180 unit, as well as an nTouch 60.
  2. Double-click the nTouch 60 device block to open it.

Tip: We recommend that you test the responsiveness of the control knob the first time you connect to the unit from NWare. Click the Controls tab, click the Page 1 knob control to select it, then copy and paste it onto the screen design area on page 1.

  3. Deploy or emulate the project.
  4. Click the Configuration tab.
  5. Under Communications, type the IP address of the nTouch 60 in the Device IP Address box.

When the nTouch 60 is contacted, the Device Responding LED is lit (green) and the Temperature box shows a current reading from the device.

Tip: If the Device Responding LED does not light, check that the IP address is correct (you can display the IP address of the nTouch 60 on its screen by pressing the set up button at the rear of the unit, and then pressing IP Config on the screen); also check that you can contact the unit using a PING command from a Command Prompt window.

For information on the controls, see Controls in the NWare Device Reference.

  6. If you want to test the responsiveness of the control knob, open page 1, and then move the control knob on the front of the nTouch 60 unit.

If communications are working properly, the control knob on the NWare device will move at the same time as the knob on the nTouch 60 unit.
