Replacing the obsolete devices

  1. Press CTRL+F to display the Find dialog box.
  2. In the list, click obsolete devices.

  3. Click OK.
  4. Click the Find Results tab to view the obsolete devices in the project.

  5. Click the path link to the first device to locate it.
  6. Drag a new device of the same type from the device tree over to the page.

Note: This device will replace the obsolete device, so it is important to choose it carefully to ensure it will provide the same functionality as the old device. If you are unsure about choosing an alternative device, contact MediaMatrix Technical Support.

  7. If you are prompted to specify a name for the device, specify a name that is different to the original device name.
  8. Display the device properties of both the obsolete device and the replacement device.
  9. Select settings on the replacement device to match the settings used for the obsolete device.
  10. Wire the replacement device to the same devices the obsolete device is wired to.
  11. Delete the obsolete device.

Note: It is important to add the new device before deleting the old one. This is not just to allow easier duplication of the settings, but because it ensures that NWare will not allocate the same device ID to the new device as was allocated to the old device. Reusing the device ID can mean that corrupt settings from the old device are copied over to the new device.

  12. Repeat steps 5-11 for the other obsolete devices.
  13. Save the project.
