Connecting the iPad to the NWare Mobile Display device

In order to view the pages in an NWare Mobile Display device on the screen of an iPad, you must set up a connection between the iPad and the device hosting the project.

The iPad will automatically discover all the Mobile Display devices (referred to simply as mobile displays) in all the projects running on hosts on the local subnet. However, it will not be able to discover mobile displays running on hosts on other subnets. In order to connect to these displays, you must specify the IP addresses of the hosts manually.

Notes:

• If a static IP address has been specified for a mobile display and it can also be discovered automatically, it will only be listed once on the iPad screen. The static IP address will be used to connect to the mobile display.
• When a static IP address has been configured, but the host cannot be reached, or the mobile display name cannot be found on the host, the mobile display name will be listed on the iPad screen, but it will be grayed out and cannot be selected.

To connect the iPad to the NWare Mobile Display device

1. Deploy the project.
2. Open the Mobile Display block.
3. Click the Configuration tab.
4. In the Mobile Display Name box, type a name to identify this individual iPad device in your project.

   This name will be available for selection in the NWare mobile app on the iPad; when it is selected, the pages in the device block can be viewed on the iPad screen.

   Note: Only one iPad can connect to the iPad device at a time. If a user attempts to connect another iPad, an error will be displayed on the iPad.

5. If you want the iPad user to have to specify a pin code in order to access the screens on the NWare iPad device, type the pin in the Authentication PIN boxes.

   This setting is optional.

6. On the iPad, start the NWare mobile application.
7. Press the cog to display the Mobile Displays screen.

   There may be a short delay while all available displays are found.

8. If the mobile display you want to use is listed, press the item to connect to it.

   If you want to add a mobile display to the list by specifying the IP address of its host:

   1. Press Other.
   2. Next to IP Address, specify the IP address of the host (nControl / nTouch 180) running the project.
   3. Next to Description, type the name of the mobile display.

      Note: The name is case-sensitive.

   4. Press Save.
9. If you have specified a pin code for connecting to the NWare Mobile Display device, type in the pin code.
10. You can now interact with the project on the iPad.

    Tips:

    • If you want to display the configuration settings when you are using the application, press three fingers anywhere on the screen at the same time, then press the cog button.
    • You can set up the iPad to remember the pin number of the NWare iPad device so you won't have to type it next time you connect, by switching on Remember PINs on the configuration screen.
    • When you have finished using the NWare mobile application, press the Home button to return to the main Home screen.

In NWare, on the iPad device Configuration tab, the IP address of the connected iPad is displayed under Client IP Address. The Client Connected LED will be lit (green).
