XDAB considerations

• The source of a particular XDAB channel cannot be dynamically changed – it is fixed at compile time.
• The compiler does not automatically place devices in different roles for all the NioNodes connected to the XDAB ring.
• The XDAB interface has a maximum capacity of 448 channels at a 48 KHz sample rate, but the actual number of channels allocated is specified by the channel count of the XDAB device.
• The level of resources consumed on the NioNodes by XDAB is proportional to the channel count. Each NioNode in a cluster receives, at each of its DSP chips, all of the signals sourced by the other NioNodes in the cluster. This consumes signal buffer memory. In addition, IDAB (DSP-to-DSP transfer bus) channels are used by XDAB channels.
• In order to transfer signals to devices via XDAB, you must wire all the input devices and output devices to a single XDAB device. Using flyoffs for the XDAB inputs and outputs will help improve the clarity of the design.

  Tip: To create a flyoff from an XDAB connector, switch to wiring mode, drag one of the connectors away from the XDAB block and then right-click. You can name the flyoff and then it will be added to the Flyoffs tab for use with other devices.
