Topic: CAB 16O Intermittent RX-Fault

Once a day, audio in one zone of one of our Casino's is very distorted and full of crackles...when this occurs the RX Fault on the CAB stays red. Hard booting the CAB resolves the problem for awhile sometimes a day sometimes a week...and so on. Are there any T/S tips upstream I should be concerned about before replacing the CAB16O?

Re: CAB 16O Intermittent RX-Fault

Hello Jack,

Yes, the first thing to do is to see what CobraNet Discovery can tell you.  You can find a link to this software here;

http://www.peaveycommercialaudio.com/pr … d-Firmware

This software was created and maintained by Cirrus Logic, but we keep it available as a convenience to our customers.

Once you have this running and connected to the CobraNet network, it can be very helpful in finding network problems.  You will need to activate the error code and error count columns (under "View", I suggest you add all columns, and then get rid of what you figure out you don't need later).  Let Disco run thru when you have the problem, and then take a look at what you have.  The error code list is found in the CobraNet Programmer's Reference found on the same link as above.

If it still doesn't make any sense, adjust the columns to look like the attached, and then grab a screen shot.  Send it to MM Tech Support email, and one of us will take a quick look.

One last thing, if this is a CAB that is sitting as the only CobraNet device on a network switch, you should try rebooting the switch.

Good luck,
Fergy

Re: CAB 16O Intermittent RX-Fault

Thanks Fergy, I'm not on site and its not on any vlan so downloading the client you suggested really cant help me make a repair / replace decision in the time frame I have.  Its not on a network with anything else and the only switch is a small Net Gear 4 port switch which handles the Cobranet to that zone only. Not sure rebooting that will do anything but if you think so I'll try it

What is the RX fault really trying to tell me, data collisions?, handshaking? no tX? Assuming good wire is the CAB malfunctioning.
