Topic: iPhone!

Some of you may have seen the iPhone demo we did at Plasa.  We have written a simple application for the phone (and the iPod touch) that lets you control a NION wirelessly using RATC.  You can find a description of this, including source code here:

NOTE!!!  To run the application, you need to be an Apple developer.  Sorry, we have not uploaded this to App Store, which is the only way Apple supports distribution.  This is meant as an example to help you get started.  We are considering a more general purpose NION control application, let us know here what you think.

Re: iPhone!

I would love a NWare,MWare, Ramm app for iPhone.  Peavey should be the first Audio Company to do this.  I would even pay a nominal fee for it.  Free is always better though.  I have many units in my parks and my laptop gets heavy.

Re: iPhone!

We have an Apple developer in our office, so did try the Plasa demo: it's cool.
The trick is to figure out what's the most useful set of controls.
Thinking of one zone of a multizone project, level and mute are obvious; some simpler form of source selection than scrolling up and down a router with the "knob" would also be great. Then there's the question of how to select which zone we want to control.

Why not just implement Kiosk for iPhone - hang the expense!

Re: iPhone!

I dont suppose we will be so lucky as to have an app like this for the Android phones?  wink

No harm in asking right? wink

Re: iPhone!

Of course you can ask... I'd love to see an NWare Kiosk-like application that runs on the iPhone, Windows Mobile, Android, and others... I think that would be fantastic. However, I also know that it won't happen tomorrow, but maybe in the future.

Re: iPhone!

Has there been any further development in this area ?

Re: iPhone!

I managed to get this to work.... it is pretty neat and it sure would be nice if there was a way to export an "app" from nware  or even provide a web control interface.

Re: iPhone!

For a general cross platform app, it would need to be a web/html page.

In another thread, I showed a simple demo using what is generically known as HTML5 (pc only, no touch events.)

When a standard know as WebSockets is finalized and becomes common across all browsers, it would be possible to develop templates that would work on all ‘HTML5’ compliant platforms.  WebSockets would allow them to communicate very quickly.  With quite a bit more work, one could probably have NWare generate equivalent  ‘Kiosk’ web pages.

A web server would be required, either a MM device, or external.

Holding one's breath might be problematic...
